Well, our three performances are now over.
My grandfather took this picture of me in costume and makeup after Thursday's opening night show with his iPhone...
Try to imagine me not smiling, staring sketchily ahead, arms at my sides, and then multiply me by five... and that's Us. The Muses. The
Thursday, opening night, everyone wore their cast t-shirts to advertise at school. I forget who did the art... one of our tecchies.
Bad camera phone photos coming up: everyone was relieved that the first show was over. (I've masked everyone even though I doubt they'd mind being on the blog.)
me and Duncan (he played the First Guard, Jonas) |
Nick (he played Creon, the king, and was decked out in a very convincing fake beard and sprayed-grey hair) |
Emily (Antigone herself, in an amazing dress) |
doodles by yours truly. They're supposed to be from left to right Ismene, Antigone, the Page, and Creon. |
Then came the Friday night show. There's a tradition that after this show everyone goes to a local pizzeria. Poor pizza people. We were there until like 1 AM. As usual.
tecchie Jon, Cora, Duncan again, and yours truly (I didn't bother taking off my makeup) |
Duncan. Again. Don't worry, guys, that's Sprite in those cups. Promise. (And yes, I re-used my hat from the day before.) |
shirt: PacSun // jeans and tank: Abercrombie // shoes: Target
And now it's over. OVER. What am I going to do with my life now? I'd gotten used to having rehearsal until five every day, used to having to scrub my face for an hour to get off the greasepaint. Now I'm going to have time.
Weird.
By the way: Everyone who knew my graphic design business as Robin Blogs? It's been updated, renamed, and reopened. View here.

I can totally, totally, totally relate. It's like after working SO HARD for a play, meeting awesome people, and performing for just a few nights....you feel like, depressed for a week or so. :/
ReplyDeleteI am loving the new look of your blog design business! Lovely. :)
Your new blog design blog. :) Are you going to put the tutorials somewhere else or are they gone forever?

wow! It sounds like a ton of fun! I was recently in our town's performance of White Christmas and afterward I had no idea what to do with myself! I can't wait to do another show though.
ReplyDeleteAwesome makeup by the way and you look wonderful!
Love,
Tessa Brooke
I completely understand! I was in the stage crew of our play, the Wizard of Oz, and I was so used to spending my time at school until 6 PM, along with our 8-hour rehearsal one Saturday. It was bizarre after the cast party to not show up at the auditorium and get ready for the Munchkinland scene. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and by the way, I love your outfit and the new graphic design blog. :)
Peace,
[Laurea]
Hey! I've never commented on your blog (idk why...I'm not much of a commenter even though I love comments!), but I just had to comment on this post! I'm really into theater and I totally know what you mean about feeling that huge depression after a show. I just got done with Phantom of the Opera a little over a month ago...oh my goodness, I STILL miss it! I met so many amazing people, it was a wonderful experience, and I miss not being there at reahearsal from 4 to 7 or 4 to 9 every night. Heck, I'd happily trade back all the free time I've gained. ;) I miss my Phantom people...we all got really close.
ReplyDeleteBut anyways, I really enjoy your blog, I love your style, and I WANT YOUR HAIR.
Haha, is having so much time now good or bad? :) I've never been in a school play before, but it sounds, and looks really fun! :) I'll go check out you newly designed blog!
ReplyDeleteI love/hate that feeling of that over-ness- you know what I mean. It's like, I HAVE NO LIFE NOW! Then you start rehearsing for something else again, and it starts all over. :/
ReplyDeleteI almost did a double-take when I saw your shirt! I have a white shirt with a grey horsehead coming in from the side of the seam (but it's from J. Crew) and it looks creepily similar.
Great post!! I hope you'll find something to do :P I reallyreally love your makeup and I'm glad I found someone else who has a passion for the arts (but I'm more the music writer type) and I LOVE your outfits. Yet again. They're just so snazzy! (stole that from Lauren) Great post (I said that again...lol) :))

That looks way fun!
ReplyDeleteI like the new design for your design blog, but why did you have to remove the freebie section??

aw, it's always sad on closing night... :(
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a blast. I've never been on a school play before mainly because our school doesn't hold plays that often. We have plays but only within the classroom.. you know class activities. Your cast t-shirt is awesome! I love the off-shoulder style.
ReplyDeleteThat is always hard when a play is over! I've had that feeling heaps of times before!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you look really great in your cotume :)
omigosh, COOL
ReplyDeletei feel the same way about our local annual historical ball. it was this weekend, and now it's just...over. :( BUT! it was a smashing success and i danced my heart out.
ReplyDeleteThe worst part about plays is when they come to an end. It's such a sad feeling! I hate it because no matter how many more plays you're in, they'll never be exactly like that one.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing your shows. It sounds like you all had fun. :) Enjoy your free time. You'll be busy again in no time. :)
