A Breath of Fresh Air

Notice anything? I sincerely hope so... this is the biggest change in HorseFeathers I've ever had the guts to do. I mean, look around... no fancy post title font, no background, that slim little grey line around my posts.

It's meant to be November-ish. I know it's a little early, but NaNoWriMo will be starting soon and I fear I won't have time... so I think a few days before is fine, don't you? Don't worry, the winter look will be installed in time... just not as soon as I had planned.

You see, yesterday during science class I had this vision... luckily we were using computers, so I took my laptop and laid it out in Photoshop. When I got home, I started designing. It was finished and sent out to a few people to be approved within a few hours, and I was bubbling over with excitement.

November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.
- Elizabeth Coatsworth
There is music in the meadows, in the air --
Autumn is here;
Skies are gray, but hearts are mellow,
Leaves are crimson, brown, and yellow;
Pines are soughing, birches stir,
And the Gipsy trail is fresh beneath the fir.
- William Stanley Braithwaite
I like spring, but it is too young. I like summer, but it is too proud. So I like best of all autumn, because its tone is mellower, its colours are richer, and it is tinged with a little sorrow. Its golden richness speaks not of the innocence of spring, nor the power of summer, but of the mellowness and kindly wisdom of approaching age. It knows the limitations of life and its content.
- Lin Yutang
I think these quotes definitely embody November. It's a quiet month, with a few bright spots of color still hanging on until the snow comes. The sky is often solid grey or white, in start contrast with the pops of color from the dying leaves on skeleton trees. But it makes me happy, despite the chilly nights.

This color scheme, incidentally, is one of my favorites. My room is decorated as such.

So! What do you think? It's definitely a new direction for HorseFeathers... but I think I like it.

  1. I love love love love it! It's definitely much different than anything else you've had - much cleaner and a bit more girly, with all the pink. But I adore it. I wish I could design blogs the way you can! ;)
