BEAUTY // the makeup post

Note: 25% off everything in my Etsy shop this month with the coupon code LOVELYMAY.

Back by popular demand, here's a little step-by-step makeup tutorial. This is a very simple morning routine that is fairly natural-looking for everyday wear. It only takes about two minutes to apply everything, so it's great if you're in a rush out the door.

If you're feeling a little more wacky, here are some ideas using makeup from Sweet Pea and Fay. They sent me lots of shadows and lip glosses for product review, and let me tell you: everything is AMAZING. Emily, who you can see in the pictures with the green and orange shadow, went and ordered some herself.

This is all really high-quality stuff, and costs next to nothing. I highly recommend it; I use it almost every day.

The best thing about this is that you can use the eyeshadows like liquid liner, too — I do it pretty much every day. Just wet a very thin makeup brush and dip it into a small amount of shadow, then apply like you would liquid liner. Look at the picture with the turquoise spikes — that's eyeshadow.

using Camando

using Super Duper (personal fave)

using Rigel
using Crystal Meth (it's the color guys, I'm not really on drugs, i promise)

Photo credit to Emily for the pics of me & to me for the pics of her.
Makeup credit: I did all except Rigel, Emily masterminded that one.

PS: the lemon cupcakes I told you about? Em took pictures while we were making the cake and cupcakes and posted the recipe here. They. Are. Delicious.

  2. Thanks so much for the tutorial! The photos are absolutely beautiful and you did quite lovely job with how you applied it. It looks unique but not tacky.

    I actually wasn't able to watch the video (I am at my grandparents' house for the weekend and their computer has no sound) but I WILL be watching it when I arrive back in NC. ^_^

    Hope you're having a wonderful day, dear!

  3. P.S. I am not kidding, the third and fourth pics look like something that Maybeilline or Cover Girl would have as their photos. You are so talented! ^_^

  6. I am insanely jealous.

    I've gotten significantly better at applying makeup over the past few months, but I still sometimes manage to look like a clown.

    You OWNED this. Great job!

    (By the way...I'M THE 600TH FOLLOWER!)

  7. What an awesome tutorial {I'd even go as far as to say epic}! I'm still learning a lot about makeup {countless videos, countless do-overs} so this is extremely helpful. I need to get an eyelash curler next. ; )

  9. Perhaps now I'll be more inspired to try out some different makeup as I wear hardly any. Really like the different colours here.
