candles and cut flowers

just a little arrangement I'm using as an altar. it's in the one spot in my room that actually gets sunlight.

by the way, this is my paganism. not slaughtering goats or writing in blood. just a lot of candles from IKEA and herbs from the garden.

cloves banish negative energies and clear your head (plus I adore the way they look and smell)
white candles for peace
green candles for nature and prosperity
a statue of a woman to represent the feminine energy that is the core of (my) witchy-ness
and other bits and bobs that just make me happy.

oh, and this was just a sketch i did for art class... the theme was supposed to be metamorphosis.

  5. @BlueeyedFlower: I turn people into frogs and work on my magic broomstick.
    Kidding.
I burn candles and herbs, and inflict good fortune on people I love.

@Diana: Haha yeah I was college tripping down to NYC, post soon!

  7. I love the altar. :) It kind of reminds me of the stuff my parents talk about occasionally, being connected to nature and stuff. I especially love the figurine. Do you use feathers in your rituals (is that what you would call them? I must admit I'm not very familiar with Paganism) at all?

  8. Ahhh! That altar's awesome. Really pretty and interesting cx You know I've never been in Ikea? o.o

    And great drawing :DD

  9. That is so cool. I'm completely lost as to what I believe, but from the altar, Paganism looks interesting.

  10. Wow, I guess you cleared out all the people who didn't like your beliefs when you wrote that post a month or two ago.
I Don't agree with your beliefs and I don't know why I didn't stop following your blog when you pretty much said you think God is fake...You're a God hater.
This alter of yours....don't know why you had to post about it...because you're trying to influence your readers? I don't agree with it and I know you're not going to like, but I'm going to pray for you.

    God bless,

    BHL

  11. @Anon: Yeah, that was kind of the intent.
I never said God was fake! I definitely believe there is something other than ourselves. And the whole point of those videos was to point out that I don't hate God at all, nor do I hate Christians; I'm pretty much indifferent unless you do something as an individual that is harmful. Then I don't like you so much.

I'm not trying to influence anyone, I'm sharing a part of my life because that's the purpose of a blog; it seems like you're trying to influence me. Which I'm fine with, now, because I'm secure in my own beliefs. I don't even care if you pray for me — I'm not going to pray for you, in MY own way, because I know you wouldn't like that and I respect that Christianity is the path you have chosen to follow.

Me posting my altar is just like you posting a photo of your church. The single difference is that Christianity is widely accepted and Paganism is not so much. I don't mind. I understand if it offends you, and I understand that you don't want to see it. That's your choice!

    Goddess bless,
    Olivia

  15. Wow. You draw amazingly well. And I remember way back, you once said in a post: "there's a reason I don't put faces on my drawings". Are you kidding me? You're freakin' talented! Either you were way too humble or you didn't realize that you're really good. :)

  16. Hey Olivia,

Sorry I was rude...I've been super stressed out lately and your post kind of gave me something to "yell" at...Although I don't agree with you on your beliefs, I think you are a nice person and a good artist.

    God bless,
    BHL

  17. You said you were college hopping in NYC. Did you visit Columbia University?

  18. I have to agree, that sketch is amazing. I love how you capture such life and depth in the eyes, very nicely done.

Oh and I just have to ask, what products do you currently use/what's your routine for your hair? I LOVE your hair, it's gorgeous.

  19. @Pixie: Haha hate to disappoint, but I don't do much. I don't use a specific conditioner, but the L'Oreal Pro stuff is pretty good. I sleep with it wet in a towel, and in the morning if it isn't dry yet I use a diffuser on an ionic hair dryer. If my face-framing pieces aren't cooperating, I use a 1" curling iron to curl them away from my face (which actually makes them less curly than my normal hair). If it's super frizzy, I use Moroccan Oil (or whatever hair oil is closest) to tame it down a bit.
I'll do another update on the girls-with-the-curls series soon!

  20. Do you ever inflict curses on people you don't love? lol

  21. @Anon: God no haha, have you ever heard of the rule of threes? Whatever you put out into the universe comes back on you threefold.

  22. So technically, do you do witchcraft? Like are you a witch? Just curious.

  23. Have you had any strange encounters and do you call upon spirits?

  24. I don't summon up anything specific, just ask for help from whoever may be listening. And I've had a few spooky things happen... definitely. Even before I started practicing Wicca (they've definitely increased though).
