NaNoWriMo Fever!

Do you know what happens in a little over 3 weeks? Do you know why I am running around in a frenzy, flipping through notebooks and scrawling unintelligible sticky notes that then are scattered throughout the house? Do you know why my eyes have acquired a certain manic gleam?

That's right, dear readers.  N a N o W r i M o   i s   h e r e .

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

NaNoWriMo = National Novel Writing month. You write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.
It is intense, it is amazing, it is NaNo.

I signed up after it finished last year (yet forgot to write down username and password, and thus had to make a new one — stupidstupidstupid) and have been eagerly anticipating its restart since then. I am fully confident in my novel-writing ability to reach 50K.

Wanna be my writing buddy? Then come, fellow WriMos, and click on this link. Be my buddy and I'll be yours. :)

*deep shuddering breath*
Please excuse me while I run around screaming my head off in ecstasy/anticipation, for I am an apprentice WriMo and have not yet completed my first NaNo novel in previous years.

My snazzy, red, new Moleskine notebook just waiting to be filled...

  2. I've been wanting to do it really bad. I signed up for it this year but I don't quite get what you do. I mean, I read all about it but I still don't get it. Help?

  5. P.S. What are you planning on writing about?

  6. Hayhay: Basically you write like a demon for the month of November and try to reach 50K words (harder than it sounds). Periodically, upload your work and it updates your word count (shown on your profile). To "win", you have to reach 50K before midnight on November 30.
Correct me if I'm wrong, O Seasoned WriMos. :)

Elizabeth Rose: That is a secret! Why do you think I didn't show my ideas in the photo? ;)
Don't worry, you'll find out on November 1.

  8. I added you! My username is KingaLydia. This is my first NaNo as well. I'm a little nervous, and I really need to start preparing a little more. Good luck, and I can't wait to read your story plot.

  10. Yay I'm excited you are doing it this year too. I did it last year and won. :) And yes you described it correctly. No one has to actually show their work to anyone for copyright reasons (although you're allowed to if you want). If you make the 50,000 words by the end of November and enter your word count you get a cool certificate and some other stuff. It's a really fun way to get rid of writer's block lol. I'll add you as a buddy. Username is achieve1dream. :)

  24. Just a curious thought. I really hope this dosn't come across in a greedy way, I was just wondering. Is there a prize if you win or is it just a happy, satisfied feeling knowing how strong your abilities are to write 50k words!
