Hating Mother Nature...

She is a cruel woman indeed.

She gets my hopes up about snow...

But did we get a beautiful snowstorm last night?

Nope.

What masquerades as snow, what clusters around the bases of trees and lights upon frozen birdbaths, was actually frozen rain. That's right. Clumps of ice.

Fun stuff.

I have this weird love-hate relationship with snow. I love it when it starts and I eagerly await our first blizzard of the season, but by the time February comes around I'm ready to take a giant hairdryer and melt it all away because I'm so sick of shoveling the driveway and having wet shoes.

Well, no worries about shoveling this... stuff. (It's not really snow...) It melted pretty quickly.

Drat.

{on a happier note: I have but 2,000 words left until the big 50,000 on my NaNoWriMi novel! I plan to finish tomorrow and throw a large party. Inside my head, of course. ;) And here on HorseFeathers.}

  3. cute pictures I'm totally in love with the 3rd to last one, beautiful!

I totally know what you mean! I'm in love with snow until christmas, after that I just want it to go away!

Not to nag on you or anything, just wonder, when will you put up your december design? I know you said that you would put it up the day after thanksgiving... ;) I'm very excited to see it, you're such a great designer!

  6. I'm so sorry! We've been expecting snow here in Devon (England), too, but none has come yet. (Although Scotland and north England have plenty...hmph.) Lovely photos, and good luck with NaNoWriMo. :)

  7. We haven't been getting any snow, either; and I really want it to! It's frustrating!

Definitely celebrate once you've finished NaNo! :D

  9. I know just what you mean! Same thing always happens here! First snow on the 5th, then the weathermen keep saying "snow on Friday", but it never happens.

  10. We had a light layer of snow the other day- just the right amount to get everyone's hopes up, and then let everyone down as it melts a few hours later. So I know what you mean.

I'm an old-time reader, but I've never commented before; nice pictures, as always, Olive Tree! :)

That's awesome(about your novel, of course)!! That's all we ever get, messy wet stuff in Dallas. But last year for the first time in, like, since I was born, we were snowed in on Christmas Eve. Consider yourself lucky. ;)

  13. I love winter, but if there is no snow I start to hate it. When the first snow falls, I always get so excited, but by the end of winter I am just wanting it go away and spring to finally come.

  14. Hi Clue, thanks for joining in!

Larenna, lucky you! Here in Maine it is quite cold indeed — below freezing — but we have yet to get 7" of snow. Alas.

Brooke, I really do love snow. And trust me, we get a LOT of it. We're about as far up as you can go without hitting Canada. But by the end of the winter, I start losing my affection for snow shovels. ;)

  15. Oh dear that's sad. Up here it snowed almost everyday last week, and then we got about 3 inches on saturday and it's still on the ground. :D Yay!
