Loving Lightroom

I downloaded Adobe Lightroom for a free 30-day trial, and I'm in love. As soon as I have an extra $300 I'm buying it!

It's not like iPhoto, that saves your images to a whole other folder so it takes up twice as much space. It's just an amazing program to edit and organize your images. I'm still getting the hang of it, but I like it a lot. It's very easy to use and professional.

*sigh* Add this to my Christmas list, please, Santa. Along with thirty new lenses, the Nikon D3x, and a brand-new MacBook Pro. And while I'm dreaming, why not throw in some world peace too?

But I am still very happy with my little old Photoshop. It works well, even if it's not quite as slick. Check out my experiment with tilt-shift that I made in good old PS:
Doesn't it look like one of those little miniature setups? Here's the original:

Fun, right? Well, I really must go work on NaNoWriMo some more. I am LOVING the way this book is turning out, and for now I'm ahead of schedule, so I'll just keep chugchugchugging away, I suppose.

PS:
There has been a sudden rash of people begging and pleading for me to follow their blogs. These comments were not published, since this is advertising your blog and not allowed on HorseFeathers.
Here's why I can't follow everyone's blogs...
I have close to 300 followers.
I am only on blogger for maybe an hour each day; less since I'm very busy right now. I try to read and comment on the blogs I follow frequently. Do you know how long it would take to read and comment on 300 blogs and counting?
So I only follow a few blogs that I really love or that are written by close friends. Only 77 including my own blogs (I like to see how the posts look in my Dashboard). This is a fairly manageable number... I actually need to do some weeding to eliminate a few.
So no, I will not follow your blog if you go clamoring and asking me to in a comment or email.
BUT this is how I do decide to follow a blog...
   • In your comment, be interesting and thoughtful. I'll click on your name and go to your blog.
   • If your blog is well-written and appeals to me, then I'll follow it.
I assume that these steps apply to everyone.
Please, no advertising. I'm even less likely to check out your blog if you're annoying about it.
Thanks!

  1. Adobe Lightroom looks like a fun program :-] Maybe I will get a free 30-day trial soon! I totally understand what your saying about people begging you to follow your blog; I never beg, because I don't think it's kind, and I don't like it when people do it to me!!

    Have a blessed day,

  2. It looks like a cool program! I've never tried an Adobe program before, but I notice that a lot of people seem to really like them.

I don't like it when people advertise, either. I just say on my comment form that I delete comments that contain URLs and stuff like that.

  4. That new program is awesome! For now though, until I magically get 300 dollars & a Nikon Coolpix, I think I'll stick with Fotoflexer ;D

  5. That looks so cool! Is it good for editing photos of people as well?

  6. I love Lightroom. It's seriously the greatest thing since sliced bread and peanut butter was invented. For awhile, Adobe was running an 80% student discount, you may want to check if that's still running. That's how I bought mine, and I think it only came to about 70 or 80 bucks. Significantly cheaper than $300!

  7. I just recently downloaded the free Photoshop CS5 Extension trial, and I am in love, love love! It is quite a complicated program to me, but I'll get used to it. =) Lightroom sounds like something to fall head over heels for! =D

  8. Oh my gosh. I hate it when people leave links to their blogs in a comment. It's soo annoying because you know their just trying to get your followers.

  11. I'm about to download the free trial of Lightroom as well...IF I practice piano everyday for a week. Yes, I'm bribing myself ;)
I'm going to buy it soon, though...if you go to academicsuperstore.com, you can get it for $89. It's the exact same thing as the $300 one, but they only see this version to students. You might want to check it out! :)
And I totally get you on people begging you to follow their blog. I get the same thing. So annoying!

  12. I'm totally with you on the commenting/following thing! It gets really annoying when people comment and just say 'I'm trying to get 100 followers, will you follow my blog?' and it has nothing to do with the post!

Have fun with the lightroom thingy (I have no idea what it is... ;])

  14. I'm ahead on NaNo too! Not by much, but enough to give me a bit of breathing room. I actually didn't write at all on Friday. It's so nice to do that without getting too terribly far behind.

    Cool pictures!

  15. When I get a new follower, I check out their blog a few times and if I decide I would like to read more of their stuff, I follow so that I have an easy way to access their blog. I understand completely about not having time to read everyone's blog and it would be crazy to try.

    Well said!

On other news... You're way further ahead on NaNo than I am! >.< Gak! School work just doesn't like me...

    Best of luck!

  18. You might want to check out Academic Superstore--they have some really great prices for Adobe programs, including Lightroom. That's where I'm planning on purchasing Lightroom in a few weeks. :-)
