FASHION // everything is full of flowers

I have so little florals in my wardrobe, so I went Etsy shopping. This beautiful shirt was made by this lovely lady — and I love it. It's flowy and comfortable and pretty.

shorts: American Eagle // shirt: Hipsy Gypsy // earrings: Forever 21 // shoes: Target

I really need a haircut... my layers are all grown out.

(thanks to Sally for the photos!)

xoxo.

LIFE // facepalm

Facepalm is a colloquial term referring to the physical gesture of striking one's own face in a display of exasperation. It is similar in function to a sigh. In Internet discussions, the term is used as an expression of [...] disgust or general woe. (via Wikipedia)
See also: facedesk - The act of planting one's face into a desk at high speeds, usually due to frustration. (via urbandictionary.com)
The above gif is more of a facedesk (technically, facecouch, since my forehead doesn't appreciate being slammed into desks), but I think the sentiment of a facepalm is still very appropriate.

Why the facepam/desk/couch? Today was my first day back in school after vacation. That is the only answer. Time has never ticked by so slowly. And we have eight more weeks of breakless, holidayless, vacationless school before the final week which is (o joy) full of our final exams.

Anyway. I need to get back on my feet after vacation (hello, C in math class last quarter) and *meep* I've started outlining for a new book. (Yes! Me, outlining! Isn't it bizarre? Ara made me see the light with the program FreeMind.) Add on a web design job and I am, to put it simply, swamped. So I've decided to take a short break from posting.

But do not worry; I am not gone forever (I estimate I'll be gone a week or so, maybe two) AND I have emailed some incredibly talented bloggers asking if they'd like to guest post in my absence, so horsefeathers will not lie dormant and there will still be tons of new stuff for everyone to read.
(If you'd like to apply to guest post, please email me. If one of my emailed ladies decides she'd rather not post I will consult my list of people who have emailed for backup.)

I'll pop in on Thursday to announce the winner of this week's giveaway and post the next one, too, so the weeklygiveaway will continue while I'm gone.

Basically this post is just to let y'all know that horsefeathers will be under foreign rule for a while. I hope you'll keep visiting, because I'm sure the lovely ladies who will be guest posting will have very interesting posts for you.

PS: I've added a bunch of new items to my Etsy shop if you'd care to browse, plus started my first "collection". Don't forget, you all get 15% off with the coupon code "BLOGLOVELIES". The newbies:

adorable illusion

Is weather.com seriously telling me that tomorrow is going to be a snow day? Really? How is that possible? Some horrible April Fool's joke? That is not fair in the least bit. They're saying we won't have school tomorrow — say what? Guys, it's April. April showers bring May flowers. Rain. Not snow. No snow allowed.

tee: delia*s. // tights and shorts: unknown // shoes: (yup those shoes again) Target // plaid shirt: Abercrombie & Fitch // kitten: angry

^^^ so much more inspiring and less stalker-ish than Chictopia... sorry Chictopia...^^^

It just isn't fair. 10-15 inches of snow is just not fair.

Trying to force the weather into spring with neon yellow nails and the reclaiming of my "summer bracelet" collection — I wear them literally all summer, since long sleeves are gone.

The weather disagreed.

You might have noticed my crazy black eyeshadow... I didn't wear that to school, I was playing around with something amazing and it just kind of got layered on there. Because Sweet Pea and Fay sent me nine shadows, three lip glosses, and a tinted lip balm so I could model/photograph them and they could use the photos. I was psyched, it seriously made my day. My mother quickly claimed the tinted balm.

My eyes in the photos are a shade called "Chupacabra". How awesome is that? My eyelids are now Mexican goat-sucking vampire monsters. My life is complete.

And guess what? They're one of NINE (possibly ten!) sponsors for this weekend's giveaway! Because yes, it has been decided that this weekend will be the big old 500-Followers giveaway — are you excited yet? I am! Altogether they're donating about $300 worth of prizes! Surely that's worth an entry, lovely friends.

(that's where the title comes from btw)

December Etsy Finds

I love Etsy. I love selling and I love buying. I've gotten many, many things on Etsy to give as gifts (can't post them here because the giftees might be reading!), and there are oh so many more that I really wish I could buy. If I were a billionaire, I would be buying...

And so much more. Here's another list of lovelies I made. (I'm seeing a color pattern with this... I promise it wasn't planned!)

The beauty of Etsy is that (for most things anyway) the presentation/photography of the item is almost as beautiful as the item itself. I love logging in and seeing some exquisite new collection on the front page. (I'm blessed enough to have been on the front page a few times myself.)

By the way: If you're looking for a great Christmas gift, consider something from my shop. For my blog readers, you can get 25% off by entering the coupon code "BLOGGERFRIENDS" at checkout!

Etsy Excitement!

Hello all
Just a really quick little post to share my excitement: go to Etsy.com. Click on the link that says "Picked By gabrijoy". Look in the bottom row. Look in the bottom row. See it? Yay! (It may or may not on the "real" front page, as the display rotates.)
This is at least the second time one of my photos has made it to the front page. I anticipate my first sale (well, I did a sale for graphic design, but that's different) pretty soon now, since I lowered my prices to $20.
So... take a look!
(For the lazy: here is the direct link to the photo.)

PS- Do you remember this pic from this post?

Olive Tree Goes Etsy

Yes, that's right — Olive Tree's arts and crafts is now available on Etsy. My shop is called HorseFeathers Design. I only started yesterday and have a mere two three items up (one original artwork and two beaded necklaces) but hope to grow at an alarming rate. I'm selling jewelry, original artwork, and photographs.

You can visit my shop by clicking the button in my sidebar or the banner below:

Here's some photographs of what I'm selling so far.

If you have an Etsy, please add me to your favorites!

And while you're at it, check out this shop too. Simply Luscious is a body product business my good friend Samantha runs. Her stuff is pure magic, and I'm not just saying that... the hand salve (not up yet) makes your hands oh-so-soft, and the lip balm takes care of chapped lips for the whole day.

Cheers!
